For Jane

Does this make your mouth water?

Yesterday I read how Jane http://www.mypeartreehouse.blogspot.com/ has been craving lemony foods.  That got me thinking about my favourite lemony food, which would have to be lemon butter, even better when made into a tart!  My local bakery do great lemon butter tarts, so to the bakery I went.  Here's to you Jane, in support of your current challenge and your lemony snickert phase.

There wasn't a single crumb left!

Sunday breakfast

So, I have the house to myself for some of the day.  As much as I adore my 'housemates', I do enjoy the solitude.  My brain relaxes and directs my thoughts to me, and what I want to do.  I have come up with another great way to use my Breville sandwich press!  Check this out....

Take two eggs (bless Sofia and Louise for their great work) and whisk with a little water, chop some ham, tomato, cheese.  Put a small dollop of butter on base of Brev.  Not that you need it, but it adds taste and cholesterol!

Pour the egg into the Brev, then run outside with scissors the cut some fresh herbs from the flourishing garden (today I had, shallots, basil and thyme), not worrying if the neighbours see you in your PJ's!
How do you rotate a photo in the blog setup?  Not the best pic, but i'm trying to demonstrate that you then roll your omlette.
Then, voila!  There's your breakfast.  It was just so good, I wish you could have tasted it.

Next, it's time for more tea.  This time I'm going to have some Chai.  Watch and learn...

Start by taking a spoonful of the best loose leaf organic chai tea you can find.  I found mine at T2 (I welcome gift vouchers from that shop any time!!!).  Retrieve husband's mega coffee plunger, give it a good rinse out and add the chai.  Add boiling water and then hover carefully over the plunger and deeply inhale the fabulous aroma.

Find your favourite cup.  Today I'm using my new thermos cup that I bought the other day from one of my favourite new shops at Chermside, called Typo.  They have great stuff at affordable prices, so people like me can indulge in special things!

Do you love it?  I'm sure this will be a marvellous day.

My Noosa Escape...

We enjoyed a very special Valentine's weekend away recently.  I was given the charge to "find somewhere nice".  So a googling I went, and found the new Outrigger at Little Hastings St in Noosa.  We stopped in Cooroy on the way and I was so delighted to come across a great little shop/florist/cafe, called Twig and Grace.  I don't hesitate to mention their name, as it was a wonderful browse and we're really enjoying the great big Lemon Myrtle soap we bought there.

Then it was on to Noosa.  We had a one bedroom apartment, with a distant view of the ocean.  Because it is so new, everything was so nice.  The resort is set so well into the hill that we couldn't see it from Hastings St.  The privacy and the wonderful sound of the birds in the surrounding rainforest was beautiful.  It is a 500m walk from the resort down to Hastings St, hence a 500m uphill return!  The resort has 'buggy guys' who drive people up and down the hill which we took advantage of once or twice, but all the extra walking we did while we were there was fantastic, it makes you feel alive, and worthy of a swim in the lovely pools when you get back to the resort, it even has a lap pool!  The surfclub is still in excellent form with good food and the best outlook.  We took a little drive up to Boreen Point and surrounding areas, very quiet and pretty.  Here's a few pics...

An inquisitive and graceful looking seagull walked within a metre of us while we sat on the beach and watched the 'clubbies' training on Sunday morning.  Such a pretty bird, you wouldn't think it would be capable of swaking and fighting it's relatives off for someone's leftover fish and chips!

Boreen Point, where i indulged in a mango Weis bar.  Remember how good they taste?!

This absolutely stopped us in our tracks.  Back in Noosa looking for a good fish n chip shop (incredibly we didn't find one) we came across this great old 4wd with two dogs sitting up like this in the front.  Kind of like Ma and Pa kettle.  The other dog (identical) was sitting at the stearing wheel.  The most well behaved gorgeous animals.  Makes you wonder if the owner said, 'ok, you two mind the truck, i'll be back with a treat for you in a minute'!!!  Notice how it's leaning back on the headrest.

aahhh!  It was so good.  Go there if you get the chance.

it's been a while...

I was surprised to see that my last blog was the 18th of January.  How time flies!  On the weekend, I exercised the creative side of my brain and came up with this 12 x 12inch canvas.

What do you think?  I love it and am so proud of myself for finally "just doing it".  All the creative ideas I've been talking about and tossing around in my mind need to be aired.   I'll start taking orders soon once I have completed some more.  As much as I love my job, I would be a very happy soul if I could spend more time at home creating more beautiful canvases.  Do you hear me Universe?
